CLINIC (Sunday) |

Everything
You Need to Know
About Rowing, Part I
A wise man once said of rowing,
"It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but
perhaps there is a key." And perhaps the "key" is this clinic.
Okay, it was actually said by Winston Churchill, but it kind of
fits rowing as well!
It just seems that sometimes real life, practical, usable
information about rowing is hard to get - and that is exactly
what will be presented.
In Part I,
we will be tackling the following topics:
*TECHNIQUE; the perfect stroke from catch to finish to catch.
*TEACHING TECHNIQUE; to novices, to experienced, to masters.
*TRAINING; when do I do what kind of workout and why?
*PSYCHOLOGY AND MOTIVATION; preparing myself and others for
max performance. |
Branding in the Rowing
How others view you and what you do is called Branding. In
today's wild and crazy economic times branding is more important
than ever.
Why?
Because how others view you impacts numerous things. If you are
involved in the rowing community some of those might be:
1. fundraising
2. recruiting
3. seat selection
4. awards
5. keeping or losing your job (coach, coxswain, etc.)
So you can begin developing a strong and honest brand,
regardless of where you are in the rowing community, the
following topics will be discussed and practiced:
* Several ways to determine what your Brand is now
* Developing what you want your Brand to be
* How to use the internet to greatly improve your Brand
* 7 simple steps that can help you shine
* How your Brand can help your coach/team/boss look good
* Using your Brand to work with your organization's Brand
* 3 steps to take when things go wrong with a Brand

Everything You Need to
Know
About Rowing, Part II
In Part II,
we will be
exploring topics not always covered in coaching clinics:
*PRACTICE ORGANIZATION; for my team or for myself as a rower.
*BOATS; manufacturers, materials, advantages, costs.
*OARS; manufacturers, materials, advantages, costs.
*MOTORBOAT LAUNCHES; getting them started, keeping them going,
and maintenance.
*TOOLS, SPARE PARTS, AND REPAIRS ON THE FLY; surefire failsafe
mechanisms to keep your practice going.
Everything You Need to Know about Rowing, Parts I & II,
will give you an arsenal of real life, practical, usable
information to help improve your coaching, rowing or coxing.

Leadership
In Coaching
Rowing is filled with leadership. A lot of
it—and you don't have to look very far to find it. Coxswain,
coach, stroke, referee, equipment makers . . .there are numerous
leadership opportunities. Which is fantastic.
The focus of this session will be to help you, regardless of
what your role is in rowing (coach, rower, coxswain,
administrator, etc.) to identify your leadership potential and
develop a plan to get there.
Some of the topics that will be covered are:
* Determine your leadership style
* Learn about the four main leadership styles used in sports
* Discover how to use your own style to your advantage
* Develop a plan to reach your leadership potential
* Discover how to develop leaders around you
* See how ethics and leadership work together
|
RIGGING
* Knowledge of some of the most intricate details of working with rowing equipment.
* How to rig for speed.
* Where to find the best rigging numbers
for your equipment.
* The importance of testing your rigging
numbers, and how to do it.
* Ways to purchase the equipment that is best for you.
* How to help your equipment last almost an eternity. |
